Clinique GWP at the Bay

Hi lovelies,

Today I want to share Clinique Gift with Purchase promotion at the bay with you. I found this promotion online and thought it is a really nice gift set. You can find details on The Bay Beauty page.

Clinique Gift With Purchase The Bay

The gift set includes some of their newer and popular products like mini size Chubby Stick and sample of All About Eyes Serum. You get to choose the Chubby Stick and Eye Shadow/Blush palette from 2 different shades. The pink variation comes with Chubby Stick in Woppin’ Watermelon, Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge, and Blushing Blush in Cupid. The nude variation comes with Chubby Stick in Mega Melon, but I’m not sure about the names of the Eye Shadow Duo and Blush because I chose the pink variation. (It’s not written in the pamphlet nor on the website…) Both variation comes with colours that are actually useful and pretty. I had hard time deciding because I wanted to try both Chubby Sticks. I chose pink variation in the end because I have more nude colours than pink shade in my make-up collection.

Clinique All About Eyes

All you need to do is purchase more than CA$28.50 (before tax) at Clinique and you automatically receive this fabulous gift set! Your purchase can be make-up or skincare product. I purchased All About Eyes, which I reviewed on this post, for CA$37.00 + tax because mine is running out soon. I would be buying the eye cream anyways when it runs out, so I figured why not buy it when I get a gift set. I’m pretty sure you can find something that’s CA$28.50-$35.00 easily at Clinique. (Even Better Makeup SPF 15 for CA$33,  All About Eyes Serum for CA$34 etc.)

Maybelline – One by One Volume Express Mascara Satin Black Review

Official Website

Finally, bold without the bulk! Instant clump-free volume.
The lash catcher brush makes every lash count
3 bristles per lash catch, coat and de-clump

I purchased this in the States like I said in my Mini Haul, but in case you didn’t read it, it was US$5.96. Considering the regular price for these in Canada is like $7.99 (I heard it goes on sale for $4.99 sometimes but I’ve never seen it that cheap yet), I say it was great deal.

So the brush of this mascara looks like below:

It is not the biggest brush, but the middle part is pretty thick. My eye sockets are not so deep, so the brush does touch my eyelid a little bit if I’m not careful. Still, it is a easy to use brush and I can coat my lashes without clumps like what they say on the website. Here is how it looks on my eyelash:

I bought the waterproof version in Satin Black. I know I can always count on Maybelline’s waterproof mascaras to hold my lashes curled all day. As you can see in the photo above, it looks exactly same after 3 hours. When I got home after 5 hours, it still looked the same.

I haven’t been wearing much make-up lately so I only applied 1 coat, but this mascara is definitely buildable. The brush really works great so you can at least get 2 coats without combing your lashes. The colour Satin Black is very deep matte black. It is not glossy or does not have any shimmer in it. It is not particularly volumizing nor lengthing  but it is good enough for daily/casual look. If you have naturally full lashes, I think it will work amazing. The only thing that concerns me is that it smudges a little. After 2-3 hours, I can see moderate raccoon eyes… I can prevent this by applying mattifying powder under my eyes, but it might be a concern for some people.

  • Affordable and easy to find at any local drug store
  • No clump, separating
  • Keeps lashes curled all day (waterproof version only)

  • Smudges a little (If you have oily skin)

My Final Rating: 4.5/5

Marcelle – Xtension Plus Mascada Review & Swatch

marcelle xtension plus mascara

Official Website (Somehow I can only see the French description…)

I received this mascara in my April GlossyBox. As I said above, I can only see the French description at their website, but basically what this does is lengthen your lash without clamps and the brush & formula has bending effect to curl your lashes.

I don’t wan to keep telling you guys same thing over and over again, but it is super hard to find mascaras that keep my straight stiff Asian lashes curled. When I see a ingredient called “Isobutane” (commonly used in waterproof mascaras), I am confident that it’s gonna work for me. Other than that, no luck so far.

So, as good as this mascara sounds, I did not expect too much from it. Here is a picture of my demonstration.

I really like this mascara and how it applies to my eyelash. BUT! it does not keep my lashes curled. The formula is not too dry or wet and it does not clump easily. I think it’s just right. The formula is also very pigmented and has nice rich black colour. It seems that I can remove this mascara easily even with warm water.

This mascara also has nice brush with short plastic bristles.

Because there are many bristles, it really keeps the formula from clumping on my lashes.

I really want to like this mascara and I really believe this is a great mascara for those with naturally (or easily) curled lashes. However, it only keeps my lashes curled for about 10 minutes. So I won’t be purchasing this mascara in the future, but I gave it to my sister-in-law to try. Hopefully she will like it.

  • Rich black colour
  • No clump
  • Nice brush size
  • Affordable ($12.99) and easily available

  • Won’t work for stiff eyelashes
  • Comes off easily with water (can come off by tear)

My Final Rating: 3/5
