I lost my Urban Decay Naked palette about 5 month ago. I was sad for a while but I just moved on because I figure I had enough eye shadows to use in stead of the Naked palette. But the other day, I saw a blog post about this fabulous “Back to Basics” palette comparison to the Naked palette here.
Quo is a Shopper Drug Mart exclusive cosmetic brand. I’ve used their makeup brushes and they are great. However I have never purchased their makeup so I was just really motivated to buy this palette. This palette is CA$25 + tax (CA$28) and the Naked palette is CA$60 + tax (CA$67.20). The colour range looks very similar to the Naked palette.
I do not have the Naked palette any more so I can’t do the comparison, but you can see the swatch comparison in the blog post I linked earlier. I tried some shades on my finger and I think they are not as pigmented as the Naked palette. The Naked palette eye shadow has more of smooth and almost moist feel to it and Quo eye shadow is more powdery. On top of that, it does not come with primer potion and it contains less product, but I still think it is a great buy for CA$25. If you live in Canada, I recommend checking this palette out in store.

Today I want to share Clinique Gift with Purchase promotion at the bay with you. I found this promotion online and thought it is a really nice gift set. You can find details on The Bay Beauty page.
The gift set includes some of their newer and popular products like mini size Chubby Stick and sample of All About Eyes Serum. You get to choose the Chubby Stick and Eye Shadow/Blush palette from 2 different shades. The pink variation comes with Chubby Stick in Woppin’ Watermelon, Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge, and Blushing Blush in Cupid. The nude variation comes with Chubby Stick in Mega Melon, but I’m not sure about the names of the Eye Shadow Duo and Blush because I chose the pink variation. (It’s not written in the pamphlet nor on the website…) Both variation comes with colours that are actually useful and pretty. I had hard time deciding because I wanted to try both Chubby Sticks. I chose pink variation in the end because I have more nude colours than pink shade in my make-up collection.
All you need to do is purchase more than CA$28.50 (before tax) at Clinique and you automatically receive this fabulous gift set! Your purchase can be make-up or skincare product. I purchased All About Eyes, which I reviewed on this post, for CA$37.00 + tax because mine is running out soon. I would be buying the eye cream anyways when it runs out, so I figured why not buy it when I get a gift set. I’m pretty sure you can find something that’s CA$28.50-$35.00 easily at Clinique. (Even Better Makeup SPF 15 for CA$33, All About Eyes Serum for CA$34 etc.)

Flesh Toned Neutrals
This is one of my favorite Duo Eyeshadow from NARS. It is really neutral and anyone can wear them. Normally I wear them under other colours as base, but I also apply this on its own when I don’t have too much time in the morning. It brightens my eyes so I don’t look sleepy. The way I apply them is:
- Apply the less pearly colour on the left on the whole eyelid.
- Apply the more pearly colour on the right to the centre of the eyelid.
- Gently blend out the pearly colour.
(this makes your eye socket look more defined.)
- Apply the colour on the right on the bottom eyelid as well.
- Use your favorite eyeliner to fill in the lash line.
(I usually use brown eyeliner because it looks more natural.)
- Apply your favorite mascara.
See? That was easy. If you like heavier makeup, this is not for you because it almost looks like you’re not wearing any makeup. I still recommend it because this makes my eye look much brighter. I wear it to my office all the time.
