I bought this mascara together with the Spider Eyes Mascara Base. Although I don’t really like the Spider Eyes, I really like this Mascara. Like I said in last post, my eyelashes are very straight and it’s hard to curl them up, but this mascara keeps my eyelash curled pretty well.
I’ve used many mascaras / mascara bases that kept my lashes curled, but most of them made my lashes really hard. They almost feel like glue… but I have to use them because other kinds of mascara don’t work for me. (Example : Anna Sui Mascara base, Shiseido Lasting Lift Mascara, and any Fasio mascaras) But this Lash Queen not only keeps my lashes curls, but it also keep my lashes somewhat soft and feather-like. I have to say those mascaras that make my lashes hard will keep lashes curled better, but I really like to use Lash Queen because it intensify my eyes just enough for daily look.
So will I recommend this mascara? YES!! It’s definitely good enough for people with really straight lashes. It should work like magic for those who have naturally curled eyelashes.

Mascara Base – Length & Volume Lash Multiplication.
Volume & Length multiplicator! Inspired of extensible spider web fibers, HELENA RUBINSTEIN invents the new mascara base with « Fiber Extend » cellulose multifibres technology: visibly multiplies lengthening, volume and curling of your lashes before mascara application. Cream with cellulose multifibers.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about HR mascaras, but they are no longer available in Vancouver. There used to be a HR counter in Holt Renfrew in Pacific Centre but it’s not there anymore after the renovation in 2009. What a shame… (At least I haven’t found any store that sells HR products now.)
Anyways, I bought this on a Japanese shopping website “Rakuten” for fairly cheap price. (Mascara base + Mascara for about CA$40) So I asked my friend, who happened to be back in Japan, to bring it back to Vancouver for me. Tomorrow, I will post the review of HR Lash Queen Waterproof that I bought at the same time.
So finally, how is this mascara base? I will have to say “I don’t like it”. Not because this is a lousy mascara base, but it’s because I have super straight eyelashes. I find many Asian people have same problem as me — eye lashes won’t curl up easy. Many Caucasian friends has long eyelashes that curls up naturally, and this mascara base will work great for those people. Although it doesn’t really increased the volume of my lashes, it is not clumpy and it adds length very well. I would like to use this mascara base, but it just doesn’t hold my lashes up AT ALL. How I used it is:
- Use Shiseido eyelash curler to curl my eyelash
- Put Spider Eyes (this product) on.
My lashes just go back to straight at this point.
- Put mascara on like usual.
So my conclusion is : I will not recommend this to people with very straight lashes that does not curl up easy. But it is nice base for people who has naturally curled lashes.

Flesh Toned Neutrals
This is one of my favorite Duo Eyeshadow from NARS. It is really neutral and anyone can wear them. Normally I wear them under other colours as base, but I also apply this on its own when I don’t have too much time in the morning. It brightens my eyes so I don’t look sleepy. The way I apply them is:
- Apply the less pearly colour on the left on the whole eyelid.
- Apply the more pearly colour on the right to the centre of the eyelid.
- Gently blend out the pearly colour.
(this makes your eye socket look more defined.)
- Apply the colour on the right on the bottom eyelid as well.
- Use your favorite eyeliner to fill in the lash line.
(I usually use brown eyeliner because it looks more natural.)
- Apply your favorite mascara.
See? That was easy. If you like heavier makeup, this is not for you because it almost looks like you’re not wearing any makeup. I still recommend it because this makes my eye look much brighter. I wear it to my office all the time.
